This is course for anyone who wonders what to paint or how to sort out their painting ideas. Class assignments begin with a visual presentation of paintings (historical and contemporary) with a focus on a fundamental aspect of painting that is shared by numerous painters. These can include formal qualities such as value or consideration of process like sketching in paint. Through these painting projects students learn effective strategies and creative problem solving for painters. The course will explore the rich variety of painting processes that can inspire and help students move forward in their painting practice. Class projects will emphasize the development of personal imagery and subject matter. Students can work in acrylic or oil. Previous painting experience recommended.
