Gouache (pronounced “gwash”) is an opaque, highly pigmented water-based medium that dries to a smooth velvety finish. In this course, you will learn many techniques and approaches to painting with gouache using plants and flowers as the subject. Each week will consist of a particular focus including botanical studies, tropical plants, Renaissance tapestries, Persian floral patterns and floral landscapes. Examples of historical and contemporary artists who use plants and flowers in their work will be discussed in relation to each week’s project. The course will include colour theory, making dynamic compositions as well developing endless ideas for future gouache projects. Suitable for all levels. TUESDAYS, SEP 17- DEC 10, 2PM - 5PM ONLINE
