Painting: Introduction I

The basic tools necessary for painting in acrylic or oil are covered.

Students will develop an understanding of the basic elements of painting such as shape, space and composition as well as how to develop a full colour palette in this introductory level course. There is also a focus on the material qualities of paint including mixing and application to surfaces. Students are encouraged to develop their own language and approach to painting as they learn basic techniques. Classes include hands-on demonstrations, the use of still life, found imagery, live models and photographs. Students can work in acrylics or oils. Suitable for all levels. THURSDAYS, SEP 19 - DEC 12, 2PM - 5PM IN-PERSON
