This one-day workshop will cover a variety of ways to create pattern design including using mark-making techniques, stencil making, and creating unique motifs to cultivate a personal style. Students will learn to translate concepts into intricate patterns step-by-step, employing various methods along the way. We will delve into design principles to discover various ways to create patterns while looking at multiple artists throughout the day. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop promises to ignite your creativity and expand your understanding of pattern creation in both traditional and contemporary contexts. Techniques and concepts learned in this workshop can be applied to a range of drawing, painting or mixed-media projects. Workshop exercises are accompanied by hands-on demonstrations and image presentations. Projects will involve using a range of drawing materials including graphite pencils, pens, coloured pencils and oil pastels. Suitable for all levels. All supplies included.
