Supply List - Oil Painting: Composition & Process PNTGw264-30

- One or willow charcoal
- One #12 “bright” brush, or similar: Hog Bristle
- One 1”-wide soft-bristle synthetic brush
- One round pointed brush for linear work and small details
- Bring any brushes you already have from home
- Odourless mineral spirits in a jar with a lid (Stevenson or Ecohouse); Note: NO orange or citrus scent please
- Oil medium (Gamblin Solvent-free fluid or gel medium, or Stand Oil mixed 50/50 with odourless mineral spirits)
- Sketch book and pencils
- Translucent paper: Options: Tracing paper, parchment paper, glassine or any semi-transparent paper you have
- Interesting magazines and/or printed colour photo sources for collage

Recommended Oil Paint:

Winsor and Newton Winton (student grade but still good quality): Lemon Yellow (PY3) or Cadmium Yellow Light Hue; French Ultramarine; Permanent Rose; Burnt Sienna; Titanium White (large tube); Ivory Black. You can bring whatever you have if you already have paints and mediums. I can look at them in the first class and advise.

Surfaces:

We will generally need two small or medium-sized surfaces to paint on each day for class and homework assignments. Stretched primed canvas, large canvas paper, or gessoed wood panel is acceptable.
