Supply List - World Building Through Painting PNTGs252-18


* If you already own some of these supplies you do not need to buy new ones


-Canvases: You can make your own, or buy pre-fabricated canvases from an art supply store. The minimum size you can work for most projects will be 2 ft x 2 ft
-A minimum of four different sizes of paint brushes for acrylic or oil. One large flat, smaller flat, two small. Round, angle and specialty brushes are recommended, but not necessary.
-Acrylic or oil black and white paint or oil paint (depending on whichever you prefer to use)
-Coloured acrylics or oils: titanium white, ultramarine blue, phthalo blue, cadmium red light*, alizarin crimson, lemon/ light yellow, and cadmium yellow medium*
*Important: Cadmium paints are expensive—imitation cadmium paints are fine to use for this class, but expect a difference in performance/quality.

-Disposable palette, recommended minimum size of 11’’x14’’
-Palette knives
-Gloss and matt gels (if you are using acrylics)
-Gamsol, linseed oil (if you are using oils) and Odorless Mineral Spirits (OSM)
-Mason jars or yoghurt containers for water, mediums
-For oil paints, use mason jars or something with a twistable hard seal top
-Rags/Shop towel (can be found at Home Depot)


-Disposable gloves
-Graphite pencil set
-Har cover Sketch book 8 1/2” x 11”
-Retarder medium (gel format is better).
-Other gels are optional, but recommended for experimentation purposes (recommended brand is Liquitex)
-Disposable gloves
-Masking tape (high tack)
