Please bring some of the following to use as design inspiration:

- photos, magazine clippings, colour swatches, text, poem or anything similar that could be a jumping off point for explorations in fabric

You will also need to bring:

- fabrics that you can use in class for one or two possible projects. Look for a range in value, texture and contrast. These can be any type of fabric that can be stitched through, try cotton, linen, silks, recycled/upcycled and anything you'd like to work with.

o I will be bringing a selection that you can pull from as well.

- a sewing machine - if you have one with power cord and instruction manual. Please familiarize yourself with the machine if its new to you. I will bring 1-2 machines to share as well.

- Its possible to make exciting compositions without a machine, either stitching by hand or collaging with fabrics. So don't let the lack of a machine stop you!

- a selection of 3-4 spools of thread to use on your fabrics

- rotary cutting equipment if you have them

- fabric and paper scissors

- seam ripper, hand sewing needles

- paper and pencil for note taking

If you have any questions, please email me susanpm@shaw.ca
