ADVANCED STUDIO

Advanced Studio I (INDS311-108)

Students in Advanced Studio I focus on making a body of work for their Graduation Exhibition. Students work independently for a minimum of six hours per week (preferably at the school), and meet one-on-one with their advisor each week (days/times to be arranged). In addition, students participate in Advanced Studio Seminar (3 hours/week) to discuss the various issues related contemporary art practice through assigned readings, written analysis and class discussions. Guest mentors are invited to participate in critiques on an occasional basis. All Diploma students must complete Advanced Studio I & II to be eligible for graduation in the spring. Advanced Studio credit is nine hours per week: six hours per week of independent work time at school, including individual consultation with faculty, and three hours of class time. Prerequisite: Third year of the Diploma Program or Independent Studies Program or permission of the Director.

Advanced Studio II (INDS312-108)

Advanced Studio II continues the focus of developing the body of work started in the first semester. Students continue their independent work and weekly meetings with their advisor, and continue to participate in the Advanced Studio Seminar (3 hours/week). All Diploma students must complete Advanced Studio I & II to be eligible for graduation in the spring. Advanced Studio credit is nine hours per week: six hours per week of independent work time at school, including individual consultation with faculty, and three hours of class time. Prerequisite: Advanced Studio I
